Create a learning space
Create a quiet and comfortable learning space. Your child may have a regular place for doing homework under normal circumstance but this space may not be suitable for working in for an extended period of time.
A space or location for extended learning should be a family space, not in a bedroom. It should be a place that can be quiet at times and have a strong wireless internet signal if possible.
This place should be a space where you or another adult is present and monitoring your child’s learning and internet usage.
Collect resources for learning
Your child would have already received a stationery pack from the school. It contained
- two lead pencils
- one box of coloured pencils
- one sharpener
- one exercise book for Year 1 to Year 6 or one scrapbook for Kindergarten
Other items to support learning may be helpful if these are available.

- scissors
- scrap paper
Liverpool Public School will be using digital platforms to support learning from home. Access to a desktop computer or laptop is ideal. Tablets such as iPads or mobile phones can be used to view the daily tasks and some of the online learning. Printed materials will be available for students without suitable access.
Create a daily schedule
Just like a normal school day, routine and structure is very important. Keeping your normal school day routine will help students to manage their time and be independent learners.
Each day your child’s teacher will have a timetable of tasks for that day in Google Classroom. It is suggested that parents and carers view the day’s learning with their child at the beginning of the day to help them plan their time. It will also help parents and carers to support the monitoring of learning and internet usage.
